Addressing Meta’s Andromeda Update
December 4, 2025
You may have seen recent coverage of Meta’s new AI-driven advertising update, internally referred to as “Andromeda.” This memo provides a short, practical overview of what this change means for your campaigns and how Ashby & Gabriel is responding.
WHAT IS ANDROMEDA?
Andromeda is Meta’s next-generation ad delivery system powered by advanced machine learning. It is designed to better match the right ad, to the right person, at the right time using significantly more signals and faster prediction models than in the past.
In short: Meta’s system is getting much better at understanding intent and predicting outcomes.
WHAT’S DIFFERENT FROM BEFORE?
Traditional optimization relied heavily on manual audience targeting, creative rotations, and bid adjustments. With Andromeda:
- Creative variety is more important than ever. Instead of ad variants that have only a few small variations, focus on ad creative that tests different structure, content, hook, value proposition, etc. Substantial differences and creative that is specific to each audience segment will perform best.
- Meta places greater weight on creative + landing page relevance than manual audience stacking.
- The algorithm learns faster from fewer signals. We are preparing for swifter campaign optimizations than before.
- Broad targeting often outperforms narrow targeting. This is Meta saying the quiet part out loud. At A & G, we have been moving all of our clients to broader targeting over the past year as Meta’s AI targeting improves. We will continue to shift in this direction, but you already have an advantage here!
- Messaging, format, and speed of testing matter more than micro-optimizations. Instead of a hyper-focus on targeting, we are focusing on a higher quality, quantity, and diversity of creative variants.
This shift means advertisers who lean into strong creative and clear messaging will outperform those relying on heavy technical targeting alone.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR CAMPAIGNS
- Expect more fluctuations in the short term as the system recalibrates
- Simpler campaign structures will often perform better. While we intend to keep some ad sets segmented by audience for better reporting, we will be simplifying and streamlining funnels overall
- Creative quality is now the biggest lever for performance
- Campaigns may improve over time with more consistency and learning, even if there are temporary dips in performance
In many accounts, Meta is now doing the “audience” work that marketers previously handled manually. Our role shifts further upstream: messaging, positioning, funnel design, and testing cadence.
WHAT ASHBY & GABRIEL IS DOING IN RESPONSE
We are actively adapting your strategy to align with this update by:
- Adding significantly more creative testing and reporting. We are onboarding new systems to provide greater clarity about which creative variants are driving the most conversions and best return on ad spend.
- Re-evaluating all funnels and optimizing for simplicity and clarity
- Increasing creative testing volume and speed.
- Prioritizing message-market fit and creative that innately targets audience segments
- Strengthening creative briefs and developing a more responsive creative strategy based on performance
- Monitoring platform shifts daily and adjusting in real time
- Leaning further into first-party data strategy
WHAT WE MAY RECOMMEND NEXT
As Andromeda continues to roll out, you may see recommendations from our team such as:
- Increasing creative production frequency
- Expanding into broader audiences
- Refreshing offers, hooks, or positioning, especially focused on increased variety and specificity by audience segment
- Adjusting campaign pacing or budget distribution
- Strengthening on-page conversion signals
BOTTOM LINE
This update is not something to fear. It is an advantage for brands that are prepared. Meta is making the platform more dependent on strong ideas, clear messaging, and real value. That is exactly where Ashby & Gabriel excels and where our clients gain a competitive edge.
